An interactive task light that turns on and off using a gesture detection machine learning model.
This project was a collaboration between me and Orpheas Kofinakos.
This light is powered on and off using a machine learning model trained on 500 inputs of a gesture performed near a time of flight distance sensor. As the user moves their hand away from the sensor it turns the light on and as the user moves their hand closer it turns it off.
The body is 3D modeled in Fusion 360, then assembled using 3D-printed components and laser-cut acrylic pieces. A corn bulb serves as the main light source, enclosed by an opaque plastic diffuser at the center.
